Position Summary
The Buyers Assistant reports directly to the Buyer and assists in the execution and merchandising of product lines in the assigned categories. The position oversees the tasks the Merchandising Coordinator and works closely with Planning & Allocation Analysts, Website Experience, Dot.com Marketing, Social Networking and Logistics teams. He/she partners closely with new and current vendors and sales representatives, supporting them in initial item set up and management. The Buyer's Assistant works according to standard/detailed instructions and under immediate supervision in most instances determining work method and process. He/she is required to be honest, direct and ethical, maintaining positive relationships with others while at the same time ensuring that work is done correctly. The Buyer's Assistant is also required to be reliable, accountable for outcomes and able to show a strong sense of urgency to get work done.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Support the Buyers business strategies and initiatives by managing tasks and processes needed to run business
2. Make sound decisions by synthesizing the most critical facts needed to understand problems and identifying their root causes
3. Proactively share timely updates and information and communicate information clearly, concisely and professionally
Act to address poor performance and provide helpful feedback, coaching and guidance where appropriate to enhance the development of less seasoned members of the team
Initiates decisive and timely action to address day-to-day issues and follows up to ensure all work requirements are completed accurately
Setup all new items via the internal Merchandise Retail System (MRS) and Catalog system. Ensuring detail/robust copy, high-resolution images and product videos are consistent with established standards and coordinate with vendors to obtain and improve content and product presentation
Manage and develop of extensive web content to the consumer. This includes ;
• Managing site taxonomy
• Updating existing items and discontinued items
• Clean up nodes and re-node items
• Ensure other content such as accessories, gender and age ranges are available on all products
Edit copy on website for Search Engine Optimization(SEO) purposes, user friendly experience and quality control of content
Uploads images using Adobe Photoshop application, compile images and content for brand/category pages
Maintain inventory and assist Buyer and Associate Buyer with daily updates of cost mismatch, item eligibility/attributes and customer service issues
Support Buyer with marketing deals by adding keywords/nodes, creating and submitting Temporary Price Reduction
Attend trade shows seasonally and vendor meetings on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis
Assist new vendors with initial vendor and product set up and obtain from vendors product description content, images, assets image, copy and videos. Collect additional content such as product demos and vendor history
Assist drop ship vendors within commerce hub, loading inventory, turning product live, resolve any item management issues
Provide weekly sales reports to top vendors for all e-Commerce brands
• Run and maintain daily Pre-sell reports and weekly sales and financial reports
• Assist in processing cost and retail changes to maintain margin
• Run weekly vendor reports and top selling queries
• Maintain daily cost exception reports
• Submit credit allowances on a timely basis
Prepare credit allowances
Ensure that all new Merchandising.Com and Corporate shared items are set up, uploaded with images and SEO friendly product description, reported through a Web Ready Report run by the Website Experience Team
Provide ROTO item lists to the Website team for store deal promotion and review ROTO Database to ensure product content is available for all required criteria in addition to video, submit ROTO and promotional offers using Catalog and Photoshop applications
Work with the Marketing team on creative briefs on site merchandising of category and brand pages
Work with the Marketing /Natural search team on key terms for SEO content
work with social networking tam to post relevant messages from Twitter, Face book, etc
Organize promotional content for email blasts
Review and maintain upcoming marketing schedules, emails and homepages
