  • Develop editorial direction and long term strategy for creation and execution of news programming for the channel and for all pre-game & post-game shows for our teams
  • Work closely with news management team to manage and lead the news department including Talent, producers, directors, graphics, and the general news staff
  • Responsible for the annual budget for the news department including preparation, cost control, scheduling and management
  • Maintain the integrity and diversity of the newsroom and adhere to the vision of the channel
  • Work closely with other department heads and managers to help promote and market the channel, drive sales using news content and improve ratings for news & feature programming
  • Negotiate terms of employment with talent and other potential free-lance hires
  • Interview, evaluate, hire and promote employees and/or applicants and perform periodic performance reviews and subsequent merit increases, bonuses and disciplinary action, when necessary
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to employees or effectively recommend such actions for talent, producers, directors and the news management team
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
